Welcome to this week’s bulletin: Transition to the new Trader Support Service – key steps plus thank you to our readers

Thank you for reading our bulletins

As the Trader Support Service (TSS) transitions to a new supplier, we want to thank you for taking the time to read our fortnightly bulletins. We hope they have been informative and helpful to you and your business.

We know that preparing for the closure of the outgoing TSS, and the switch to the new TSS, involves careful planning. We hope the articles in recent editions of the TSS Trader Bulletin have helped highlight the key dates, actions and checks you need to complete.

Support remains available on the outgoing TSS platform to assist you in completing your remaining Supplementary Declarations. You can call 0800 060 8888 but please note that the customer service menu options may have changed, so do listen carefully.

If you have any questions about the new service, you can call the new TSS Contact Centre on 0800 870 8173 between 8am and 5:30pm, seven days a week or visit Sign up for the Trader Support Service – GOV.UK.

TSS will continue to provide bulletins on a fortnightly basis, from the [email protected] email address. Please look out for the first edition on 22 October and check your junk folder if the email does not arrive in your inbox on this date.

Deadlines you need to know

To avoid delays or disruption for your movements, here we outline essential dates and information to help you and your business stay ahead of your movements’ requirements and to ensure a straightforward transition to the new TSS.

The outgoing TSS has not permitted any new company registrations from 14 October. All new company registrations must now be made on the new TSS platform. The outgoing TSS will accept new additional user registrations to already registered companies up to and including 30 November. For further details, see the article titled ‘Get ready for the new Trader Support Service’ on NICTA.

The new TSS becomes the primary system for new goods movements from midnight on 20 October 2026 onwards. Movements and pre-lodgements arriving on or after 20 October must be submitted through the new TSS, as the outgoing TSS cannot be used for these movements.

Access to the outgoing TSS will be available up to and including 30 November to allow all outstanding Supplementary Declarations to be closed and any required data or records to be downloaded.

Please continue to check the outgoing TSS Terms and Conditions for updates.

Help available on key TSS transition steps

1. Accessing your data

You can access and download your declaration data from the outgoing TSS up to and including 30 November by logging into the TSS Portal and following the instructions outlined in the How to use the TSS portal guide on NICTA. You will find the relevant instructions on page 29 of this guide, in section 6, titled ‘Obtaining information for your goods movements in TSS’.

You can also access your declaration data through the free-to-use HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Trade Reporting and Extracting (TRE) service. To access TRE, log into your organisation’s GOV.UK Government Gateway account linked to your GB or XI EORI number.

2. How to find and close Supplementary Declarations

2.1 Deadlines
To submit Supplementary Declarations on the outgoing TSS Portal, you must do so by 10 November 2026.

The final day to review, correct, pay for, submit and close all outstanding Supplementary Declarations on the outgoing TSS platform is 30 November 2026.

Post-Movement To-Dos and Post-Movement Submission Status should also continue to be checked up to and including 30 November 2026.

2.2 Finding and closing Supplementary Declarations

A declaration is complete only when it shows as Closed on the TSS Portal.

To check whether your declarations are closed, you need to log in to the TSS Portal and then go to:

Goods Movements > View a Goods Movement > Supplementary Declarations (by consignment). You should prioritise the oldest items and immediately resolve any declarations in Draft, Input Required, Pending Payment, Tax Calculation Verification, or Fiscal Hold status.

For further information, see the article in the 229th edition of this bulletin titled ‘Closing your Supplementary Declarations – actions to take now’.

3. Check that your account is set up correctly

Please log in now to check that your account is set up correctly before all movements need to be started on the new TSS from 20 October 2026.

Please check that:

  • your business profile is correct
  • the right users and permissions are set up
  • any services and payment methods you use are connected, such as linking to the Goods Vehicle Movement Service and adding Duty Deferment Account details
