In reference to movements from GB to NI, the active means of transport refers to the means of transport crossing the Irish sea. The term is used in combined transportation or where several means of transport are used.
In case of a lorry on a RoRo ferry:
- The RoRo ferry is the active means of transport
- The lorry is the passive means of transport
